SILVERADO RESORT IN NAPA VALLEY IS GREAT “HOME BASE”
FOR MULTI-FAMILY GATHERINGS
NAPA , Calif. , December 4, 2007 – With plenty of activities, a selection of restaurants and accommodations, the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley is an appealing destination for families and reunions.
“As much as we love our families, there are times when it is so much more relaxing to meet on neutral ground where someone else can do the cooking and cleaning and where there is a variety of things to do,” said Dan Edson , director of sales and marketing. “These and other factors can add up to great family gatherings, but we do have a few tips for those who are taking on the role of travel planner.”
Edson recommends that family groups work with Silverado concierge department to brainstorm ideas to make for a successful gathering. The staff, experienced in this area, also has several tips for families:
- Designate a home base. Silverado offers accommodations in junior, one-, two-and three-bedroom suites. There is plenty of room for families to gather for morning coffee before heading off into different directions and a cool drink and snack in the afternoon to recount experiences.
- Stay in one night. The resort suites all offer fully equipped kitchens, so groups can dash to the grocery store and stock up on ingredients for a comfort-food meal and then enjoy a cozy game or movie night. The kitchens can also help groups stay within their budgets.
- Split up during the day. Once families get large enough – and family reunions often qualify – it is not typical to do everything together. That is why golfers should head to the links, tennis players to the courts and those who want to be pampered to the spa. Travelers can also visit Valley wineries, Napa shops, galleries, museums or nearby parks and playgrounds.
- But make sure some activities are for everybody. Gathering at one of Silverado’s 10 swimming pools is something everybody can enjoy. There is also plenty of room to explore and learn about the area.
- Have a good-natured competition. Make sure there are prizes for all of the kids, and then challenge them learn the name of the Civil War general who built Silverado’s mansion house. Or guess how many trees line the driveway or how many holes there are on the two 18-hole golf courses. You get the idea.
- Take the kids to nearby Six Flags Discovery Kingdom .
- For a full-day journey for the whole family, take the Vallejo ferry – a 20-minute drive away – into San Francisco .
- Schedule a nice meal. Getting dressed up for dinner is fun and helps make the evening special. Silverado’s Royal Oak offers a comfortable and elegant atmosphere with a menu featuring exotic dishes and local ingredients that are appropriate for all types of palates.
- Schedule a relaxed meal. Make a meal of out of hors d’oeuvres on the Patio Terrace overlooking the South Golf Course or sit down to a more casual menu at the Grill at Silverado.
Silverado features 280 condominium units and private cottage suites surrounding the fairways of the resort’s two championship golf courses. Each of the suites includes a kitchen, dining area and balcony or patio as well as many other amenities.
