KIRK CANDLAND, GENERAL MANAGER

A native Napan and graduate of Brigham Young University, Utah, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, Kirk Candland developed his career with Hilton and Hyatt Regency before joining Xanterra Parks & Resorts, Silverado’s management company, in 1980. He has served as Silverado’s General Manager since 1985.

His passion for the past several years has been the revitalizing and reinventing of Silverado. “In 1999 we built The Spa at Silverado, a 16,000 square foot spa which has received rave reviews and developed our destination travel business, and in 2003 we completed at 3.5 million dollar renovation of the golf courses. We installed new computer controlled state of the art irrigation systems; renovated the greenside bunkers and Tee boxes, and reseeded the fairways with Bermuda grass. We are now nearing the completion of our new restaurant, gift shop, and pro shop.”

Having raised his family in Napa, Candland believes there is a need for dining options which The Grill at Silverado, the resort’s new restaurant, will fill. “We didn’t have many options for family dining other than going out for pizza when our children were growing up,” he recalls. “Our new restaurant will be a higher end venue which welcomes the entire community for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It will offer fine dining, but it will be comfortable and it will not be prohibitively priced. The setting is extraordinary and we look forward to seeing members of the local community getting together here at Silverado.”

A past president of Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation and past board member of the Napa Rotary Club, he currently serves as a trustee of Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation. He and his wife, Lori, raised their three college age children on the Silverado grounds where they have resided for 20 years.
